See the performance...
Ghanaian-British South London native, Miss Yankey, is an international Poetry Slam champion and host of two of London’s best poetry nights in Brixton. Pushing spoken word to the masses her energy is unmistakable, every word she spills is carefully crafted, performed with passion, and loaded with authenticity.
We're thrilled to have worked with her on the beautiful 'Ode To Brixton' in the first collaboration as part of our newly launched Electric Collective. Read more about that here.
An Ode To Brixton
They call this the soul of the city. The rhythm of SW9 winds through these streets, accompanied by the melodies of a history so rich it lives beyond the archives, spilling into murals and music. There are layers to this place, and it's the people that bring the flavour. We season our plates around here. Seasoned with the greats around here. This is a taste to be savoured - the home of creatives. I'm talking poets, musicians and artists. You'll find culture bursting out of every corner from he skate park to the market. We've got nail shops, salons and the sharpest of barbers. Traders who catch jokes with aunties who barter on on Electric, Atlantic, Pope's and Coldharbour. South London's finest combined to make sure this community thrives. This energy will wrap itself around you and charge you up with life. So soak up this feeling, and drink in this vibe.
The Electric Collective is a celebration of the eclectic and diverse creators, makers, artists and performers who make the Brixton community so electric. See more here.
