Making Pigeons the Official Mascot of Brixton!

Here at Brixton Brewery, we’re always looking for ways to celebrate the unique spirit of our vibrant neighborhood. That’s why we’re thrilled to share our latest initiative: we’re launching a petition to make pigeons the official mascot of Brixton! The initiative aims to shine a positive light on these often underappreciated and misunderstood urban birds celebrating their resilience, adaptability and unique charm.

Why Pigeons?

You might be wondering, “Why pigeons?” Well, these often-underappreciated urban birds are true icons of city life. They’ve adapted to the hustle and bustle of urban environments with incredible resilience. We believe pigeons deserve some positive press. These birds are thriving in the same diverse, bustling environment that makes Brixton so special. By making them our mascot, we hope to challenge perceptions and celebrate their contribution to Brixton’s identity.

How We’re Celebrating

To rally support and shine a spotlight on these feathered friends, we’ve planned some exciting events and initiatives:

1. Beer + Birds: Urban Bird Walk (17th August)

Join us and wildlife expert Luke Massey for a guided walk through Brockwell Park. We’ll uncover the hidden lives of urban birds, including our pigeon pals, and end with a refreshing pint at The Florence pub. It’s a perfect blend of nature and community!

2. Urban Animals Pigeon Pale

We’re excited to introduce our limited-edition beer, Urban Animals Pigeon Pale. Available online and at our taproom, this brew not only supports our campaign but also raises funds for the London Wildlife Trust. Cheers to that!

3. Taproom Pigeon Party (22nd August)

Come celebrate with us at the Brixton Brewery taproom! We’re hosting a free event featuring a special collaboration with local jewellery maker Sam Ozanne. Don’t miss the chance to check out the new pigeon-head ring and join in the festivities.
