INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY - BREW BY DAY, BOP BY NIGHT 🍻💃

In celebration of International Women’s Day this year, we are opening up the doors of our arch brewery to offer anyone a little bit beer-curious the chance to learn more about brewing and careers in beer.

The tour will start at 4pm and costs £5 include a tasting of three of our most popular brews. Afterwards you are welcome to stay for a pint and chat to members of Brixton Brewery team about about how beer is made, packaged, marketed and sold. If you like what you’ve learned, you’ll have the opportunity to sign up for a taster brew day later this year, in which you’ll shadow one of our brewers on the job to learn more about what brewery working life is like.

But that's not all... 

From 6pm, we have invited DJ Slinky, founder of Slink Events to curate an exciting all-female lineup to soundtrack your evening. We’ll also be displaying artworks that shed light on issues of representation in the music industry.

SLiNK is a project run by women and non-binary talent, who platform a roster of fantastic and diverse artists in a safe space for all. The slogan of SLiNK is 'promoting diverse creativity through unforgettable events' and is deep rooted in promoting local and grass-roots talent. A growing and glowing community, based in Brixton.

We caught up with DJ Slinky to hear a bit about the birth of SLiNK events...

 "I started Slink in 2019, whilst at university in Durham, with the aim of creating an events company that offered something different. I wanted it to be run by woman and non-binary talent and showcase an array of the best and diverse artists in a safe space for all. To do this I first had to learn to DJ myself and from there DJ Slinky was born and I was able to have the community to create Slink Events."

"Since then I have moved to Brixton and put on countless events that have spanned not only club nights with drag queens, art installations and live sax, but also have done online art classes and classical music showcases. Each one has placed the artists at the forefront, with it being vital to me that every part of the events industry - from the photographers, to the poster artists - are from diverse backgrounds, treated with the respect they deserve and are paid fairly for their time and work."
