Say hi to Electric Tropical Lager, inspired by the fruit stalls of Electric Avenue

Electric Tropical Lager is here, just in time for summer. This 4% ABV fruit-flavoured lager is inspired by the fruit stalls of Brixton’s famous Electric Avenue.

The idea came about when our Head Brewer James was cycling down Electric Avenue on his way to work one morning and was distracted by a huge crate of mangoes being unloaded at one of the market stalls that almost caused him to fall off his bike.

These stalls have been part of the fabric of Brixton for decades – piled high with all manner of tropical fruit, vegetables and spices brought here by the waves of immigrants who've made Brixton their home and brought the flavours of their home countries with them.

We’d been talking about brewing a fruit-flavoured lager for some time, and this near-death experience felt like our sign to finally go ahead and do it.

“We wanted a fruit-flavoured beer in our range,” said Jez Galaun, Co-Founder of the Brewery, “but like everything we do, it needed to be authentically Brixton”

So we got to work, tried a lot of combinations, and eventually landed on a very Brixton blend of mango and pineapple with a hint of ginger for balance. No artificial sweeteners, just proper tropical flavour brewed into a crisp, refreshing lager.

We've already taken Electric out for a spin at a few events this summer and the reaction has been everything we hoped for.
